Matt Steding is quite a fellow. He arrived last November a year ago for a 3 in 1 class.

He promptly established a work ethic that transitioned the 2 day “Build a Gas Tank” Class, into a 1 day flying frenzy where each of the 5 guys completed the assignment, did I forget to mention, in 1 day?

We became pretty close by the end of the week, and had asked earlier in the week if he could stay and study side by side with me, an apprentice of sorts.

Well, we worked it out and we worked side by side. We built some nice additions to the 19′ Long Vw Bus.

He bought a Frame and wanted to get started on his bike. As he was building it, I started wanting one too, so I stopped on the bus and went to my back room where I hide stuff.

I pulled out a design I had started, but hid, due to the school guys being in the shop.

And we proceeded to begin building both Matt’s Savior and my “Legacy Cruiser.”

For a 23 year old fellow from Iowa, he worked, re-worked and finally began to slow down enough so he wouldn’t have to do his work over. (It was comical sometimes because he wanted what he wanted: quick…. And lot quality doing it that way)

Matt soon learned the ways of a professional well thought out plan, “before” putting your hand to it. It’s called “preparing,” your tools, your table, your parts….your mind….before you lay your hand on the job.

And,

You do the job once…perfect…

Or as perfect as a man can do with his hands and talent.

Once all the prep work and assembly was done, I began paint and body work and finished the bike including paint in a hot run at it “3 days”

All in all it’s good to find a young new friend who works like me. An honest man, wants only to do good work and be good to people.
